Risk. Fail. Risk again*

It was such a busy week! I'm most definitely ready for the weekend!

I finally got all my nonfiction books shelved! With the help of my fellow librarians, of course.

Apparently I like to take photos of my feet! I wore my bright orange cords on Halloween Craft & Story Day! The kids had a blast making Halloween themed crafts and scarfing down frosting loaded cupcakes. And then we sent them home with their parents and guardians all hopped up. :)

There was one scissor--leg incident. :)

I wore my zombie apocalypse boots to work. I just love the blue zipper on these dudes!

And lastly, I did my first audition in 5 YEARS! I auditioned for Peter Pan at The Vortex Theatre. I did stupendously horrible! And, honestly, I couldn't have had a bigger smile on my face when I exited the stage from such a spectacular failure! :D

I was so stressed all week trying to get a monologue together. I almost cancelled my audition because I just didn't feel prepared. I kind of overcommited myself to various music shows and just felt so anxious. But the second I mentioned not going to the audition, my family and friends all insisted that I should do it! I'm so lucky to have such a strong support base in my wonderful friends and family.

I got to the theatre a tad early and was looking over my monologue and trying not to be distracted by the other (giggling and seemingly carefree) actors milling about the lobby. When my name was called I was super excited to be in the black box space. The director and stage manager seemed so friendly! And then...I totally botched my material. I had to start over and then managed to skip half my monologue when it should have been 1-2 minutes long, and probably ended up being like 25 seconds long. (I hope I'm slightly exaggerating that...)

They looked over my resume and inquired about shows I'd done recently (which I stupidly forgot to include on my resume!) And they filled me in on call back information. I then booked it out of the space and through the lobby and to my car and called my best friend Jamie to fill her in on my spectacular failure! :)

I really hope I get called back so I can really show the director and SM what I can do. Auditions are just such a weird creature. A necessary evil in the acting biz I guess.

One last note: It sure is pretty freakin' intimidating walking into a room of actors where 5 other girls are your exact type and auditioning for the same exact role...BUT, thankfully, I had constant competition in college in my 5 friends, where we all competed for the one wife role offered us a year. :)

I survived! And now its the weekend, and I couldn't be more happy!

Have a great Halloween weekend! I think I'll watch some Shaun of the Dead!

*This title is from my friend Jamie. We used to have a Eugene O'Neill Theatre poster hanging in our greenroom in college that had that slogan on it. We used to quote it ALL the time.

Little Town of Mine

This morning I went straight over to the museum. We took a walking field trip down mainstreet.

First we stopped by the Country Inn...what's left of it. :( The roof caved in so they decided to tear it all down. I love how you can see the Luna Mansion in the background of this photo.

My sister Hil said this looks like a Monsters Inc. door. :)

Next, we hopped on over right next door to the Luna Mansion. They have THE BEST steak! If you're ever in Los Lunas and want to eat at this gorgeous place, order the Mansion Steak. You won't regret it.

Crossing the rails.

Next, we stopped by San Clemente Cemetery. The original church has been knocked down but there is a grotto/dedication for the original inhabitants of the cemetery.

Back to the Museum of Heritage and Arts "under the water tower."

And ONE last photo!

A great way to start my work week!

Treat Yo Self!

Yesterday was a Treat Yo Self day of epic proportions.

First, we stopped in at Target and you know that's never a good idea. It seems impossible to escape that place without spending all your monies. I was in there 10 minutes and had a pile of clothes! Luckily I went and tried them all on and eliminated all but 4 pieces. I got some new all star chucks, a black and white stripey sweater, a new winter coat and some skinny black jeans (perfect for tucking into boots)!

We also stopped by Shoes on a Shoestring and then Costco. I got super fancy and bought some Coppola wine. So yummy!

And then I decided to really help out the economy, took the plunge and bought an iPhone! I am now forever broke. But boy do I love tweeting every 2 seconds. :)

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Up There In the Sky!

Last weekend my family and I went to the Balloon Fiesta. My sister and I had never been to the mass ascension so we were super excited to go...even if we were up at 4am and only had like 3 hours of sleep!

They start off with the Dawn Patrol where the early bird balloon peeps fly out to check the weather conditions and such. They do a cool little flicker/burn where they light up like Christmas lights! So pretty!

My awesome sister Melanie took some great pictures of the Darth Vader balloon. If I was at all gif/cinemagraph savy I would make an awesome moving pic of it. Instead you will get an awesome Darth Vader stop motion short complete with music. Hehe...That will be my goal for the weekend. It will be awesome. Yup.

Hope you enjoyed the balloon photos! Happy weekend!

Teeny Tiny Things Sunday

This morning we got an early start (4:30am!) to make it over to the Balloon Fiesta! I had never been to the mass ascension before. It was so much fun! We kicked the morning off with huge green chile breakfast burritos and hot apple cider.

And then we had the most cute little donuts ever! Tom Thumb Donuts! Now to think of it, I only ate 2 little tiny guys! What the crazy! I really should have eaten more.

The little donut conveyor belt was the cutest thing ever!

Stay tuned for some more Balloon Fiesta pics (hopefully up tomorrow)! Hope you're having a stupendous weekend!
